John S Abbott – Director
John established the company in June 1982 and from the outset directly employed his labour, which formed the backbone of the company in the early days. Some of these operatives who joined in 1982 are still important members of the existing fitting teams. With experience, the company has grown organically and adopted new fitting techniques and products which have formed an integral part of the innovative approach to the successful installation of soft flooring. The company’s pedigree in the trade is second to none and flooring is always installed to the highest standards. John Abbott Flooring Contractors’ background is wholly involved in the carpet and flooring industry and the Directors’ joint experience is extremely useful in addressing problems as they arise from time to time. The existing management team has formed a strong foundation and moved the company on to evolve over the next 30 years.
John had, for some years, always dreamed of starting and owning his own business and D Day – June 6, 1982 was complete fulfilment of that dream.
Simon J Abbott – Director
Simon joined the company in 1989. In the initial years Simon worked within all aspects of the business giving him a vital insight to needs of both the client and the company as a whole. In 1997 having secured many prominent clients and projects, Simon became a director. Simon continued to advance the companies client base working with a number of blue chip companies, as well as PLC’s and well regarded main contractors.
Simon’s experience enables him to provide totally unbiased advice on all major and credible carpet and flooring suppliers, an aspect which is respected and listened to within the company’s building industry connections.
Nicholas J Abbott – Director
Nicholas joined the Company in 1994 after achieving a BSC Honours Degree in Business Studies at Leeds University. After joining the Company, Nicholas joined the Estimating Team in order to gain experience as to how the market place functioned and after gaining a number of high profile clients who he has nurtured and maintained strong links with up until the present day, Nick became a Director in 2000 and joined Simon and John managing the day-to-day running of the business.
Nicholas has continued with his ‘hands-on’ management style looking after all aspects of the business, as well as some of the most challenging projects that have been undertaken, such as the projects at Media City for the BBC, new Law Courts in Manchester, Doncaster College and more recently the new Co-op Headquarters in Manchester. Nicholas, along with the team have a proven track record and pedigree in executing the most challenging projects and delivering them on time to agreed budgets.
